2020+ Ford Super Duty Upfitter NO-CRIMP solution
Here's the full description, no material line, ready to paste.
Access Your Factory Upfitter Wiring — Without Cutting Into It
Ford gives you six upfitter switches and a relay box full of circuits. What it doesn't give you is a clean way to reach them. Most approaches mean cutting, splicing, or crimping into the factory harness — and once you've cut it, it's cut.
The Open Trail Creations Upfitter No-Crimp Solution mounts adjacent to the factory upfitter relay box and provides organized, protected access to those circuits using a no-crimp approach. Everything stays reversible. Nothing about your truck's wiring changes.
Fitment Note — Diesel Trucks
On 2020–2022 Super Duty trucks, the factory upfitter relay box sits close to the engine. With the 6.7L Power Stroke, sustained underhood heat distorts this enclosure over time. We've confirmed it, so we're not going to sell you a part we know will fail.
The 2020–2022 fitment is listed for gas trucks only.
Ford moved the relay box in the 2023 redesign — far enough off the engine that heat isn't a factor. We've verified it on our own 2024. 2023+ works with gas or diesel.
Running a 2020–2022 Power Stroke? Add our Upfitter Harness Extensions. They give you 18 inches of reach off the factory connector — enough to mount this enclosure somewhere the heat can't reach it. Same no-crimp approach, same OEM-style connectors, just relocated. Select the 17–22 extension in the matching wire configuration.
Available Configurations
Choose the setup that fits how you plan to power your accessories:
6-Wire (Standard) Access to the six factory Aux Switch circuits. Uses our original enclosure size.
7-Wire Aux Switches + Ignition-hot wire.
8-Wire Aux Switches + Ignition-hot + Always-hot wire.
10-Wire Full access: Aux Switches + Ignition-hot + Always-hot + both PTO wires.
Enclosure Details
- Configurations with 7 or more wires use our newer, expanded enclosure.
- All expanded enclosures include internal provisions for all 10 factory circuits using lever-style connectors.
- Unused circuits are not passed through the enclosure, and their corresponding access ports are securely plugged. No unused pigtails are provided.
Each option is built around the same priorities: clean routing, easy serviceability, and leaving the factory wiring intact.
Electrical Load Best Practice
Ford upfitter circuits allow for higher current capability, but most accessories draw far less than the maximum rating. For accessories with sustained high-current loads — onboard air compressors, large inverters — standard automotive practice is to use the upfitter switch as a control signal for a dedicated relay and fused power feed, rather than routing the full load through intermediate connectors.
This reduces heat at connection points, minimizes voltage drop, and holds up better long-term.
